Apt searching...

I've been spending a lot of time checking out apartments, looking at what's out there etc. I've spend a lot of time analyzing the different parts of Seattle too, West Seattle in particular. I found one, that is at the top of my price range, and also another, actually, you know what, I'm going to go see if I can take a look at a couple of these in person. Baby girl is here playing with the mouse and could delete all I'm writing any second...so I think I better wait til later to pour my heart out.

I've got a lot of news though..TTYL

Financial Planning....

So yeah, I'm really really tired, so what do I do? Obsessively write up a financial skeleton for the next year so I know the numbers I'll be working around. I've been going crazy trying to figure it out with the FSA deductions taking so long to start and so yeah, lots of blanks to fill in but I've got my regular payments spaced out nicely!!

I guess now I can go to sleep in peace, I have a munchkin that just climbed up on my lap telling me that it is time to read a book and do just that...go to bed.

Can you tell I figured out how to send pictures to my blog via my phone camera? I totally love it!! I'll try and add lots of clever little tidbits through my day, we'll see how it goes.

I've met a new guy recently, well, I've met LOTS of new guys in the last few weeks...this one seems like he might have some staying power! He's really sweet, professional, seems stable, and is very caring so far...I'm trying not to rush though. Only catch is he is definitely older...about 12 years. So we will see!

Last week. . .

If you look at my working mother blog from thursday you'll know what this is. . .a part of a CRAZY day. . . I think this week will be a very good focused and productive week. Soon we'll be off to bed. . .

This

This is from mothers day, the day before Wali and i were jogging at Alki and she's been jogging like this ever since. . . So cute!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's I know!! My favorites are of course...

My mom Erica

My grandma Jean

My step-mom Gail

My step-mom Nancy

My dear friends: Vanessa, Antoinette, Michelle, Melissa, Tracy, Nicole, and many more...

Almost Idols Angelina Jolie & Madonna (I admire them both VERY much, as mothers of course as women)

...and more.

I spent this mother's day going out to Alki Bakery with my mother Erica and my baby girl Kenzie, we had a lovely brunch. I'm pretty tired because I had a really nice date last night too, went to a little Lebanese/Indian restaurant and then to a Bubble Tea cafe (you know how I love that stuff). Out til about 1am talking about life and all that deep stuff, so far he's definitely a potential keeper!!

Well I better get going, mom just came and told me baby girl is pushing the cat around...I wish that cat would learn how to defend itself, he lets her 'ride' him, she jumps on him, pushes him down, it's ridiculous, he just lays there.

Oh...and I've pretty much decided on July 1 as my 'goal' for finding an apartment, then I can take my time through July doing the actual moving part. Finances are of course insanely tight, and I'll be living on beans and rice for awhile but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I had my first "Seattle Hip Mama's" meetup group, only one mom showed up but she was nice...I did get a bunch of emails from other mom's with ideas so it's definitely rolling along! I'll really be happy to have more FEMALE friends in Seattle, I'm meeting lots of guys but that well, that gets complicated.

I really miss being able to text my sister silly little messages, she understands my random thoughts more than anyone...all these options I've had recently, opportunities to ponder and such, I really miss talking to her about it, even if sometimes it's just a little text message here and there.

Theory on Lunch Dates...part 1

This is an example of what I'm posting on the Working Mother website....(Happy Single Mom)

Ahh…I have a few moments to sit here and gab about life for a moment. Simple pleasures in life!

Being a single mom, it is an interesting challenge figuring out the dating scene. I find that getting the dates are not difficult, but taking the time away from my daughter sometimes is. Honestly, when I first meet someone, sometimes I just don’t feel like the quality of the time spent with them is close to the level of when I am with my baby girl. With my daughter I love to laugh, play, I can always get a smile and it is absolutely NEVER boring.

This is why, when I hit the dating scene, pretty hard a couple of weeks ago, I restricted my schedule quite a bit, had kind of a theory about the whole concept of the value of my time. Here it goes:

I work very much a full time schedule, bringing my baby girl into the city with me allows me a lot of flexibility within my work day. I usually work about a nine and a half hour day…with 2 breaks, one hour lunch break and one half hour afternoon break. So this gives me…A WHOLE HOUR that I can go out and do what I please without having to worry about where my baby girl is, or who I have around her (I always have at least a couple of solo lunch dates with a guy before meeting up with her on my hip). My second break, my half an hour break is spent visiting and nursing my baby girl in the daycare, it’s a special time of day.

So this greatly restricts the pool of men out there able to date me they have to:

1.) Be able to get downtown during the middle of the day, meaning they either work/live downtown, have a day off during the week.
2.) Also of course a flexible schedule that allows for an hour lunch break, unless we decide on coffee of course.

I love this because it doesn’t dig into my time with my daughter, sort through the guys and find the ones that I like…AND it gives me time to screen through all these lovely guys to find the ones that I would feel comfortable having near my daughter.

SO MUCH ENERGY!!

I have finally been getting some sleep recently...baby girl has been fighting off a cold that has taken for ever and left us both quite sleep deprived but wow...sleep is like a DRUG I don't think I ever appreciated it this much before I became a mom.

Anyway, the results of all this sleep are as follows:
  • I have signed up to become an official "Working Mother" blogger, I noticed that the only other single mother's on there blogging have been doing a very terrible job keeping it updated and I want to represent!!
  • I also started a new meet-up group in Seattle called "Seattle Hip Mama Group" because although I am single...I've realized I am MUCH more HIP than I am SINGLE and that would be a better characteristic to meet friends through...so I'm excited to meet some Hip Seattle Mama's!! I'm the organizer of the group so this will be a great learning experience for me arranging events etc.
But life is good, been meeting lots of people, one of which works in the same building as me!! Very funny! I met her through a friend of mine on the eastside, so it is so ironic that she ended up in the same building as me. We've been going back and forth about meeting up for lunch so now there are no more excuses!!

Back to work, have a great day!

Gotta do it!!

My sister is in Iraq fighting a war and she has been better at staying in touch with family than I have. So I'm starting a blog too!
