Iraqi orphans?

I saw a front cover story on the local "COLORS" magazine the latest story seems to be implying, (I'm judging the cover, have not read the story), that we are not letting Iraqi refugees come to America. It points out how many Vietnamese immigrants were brought into the USA in comparison...I'll have to pick it up and read it tomorrow but it sparked a lot of strong feelings in my mind.

Any who knows me well knows that adoption is something that I very seriously consider pursuing in my future. I love how Angelina Jolie has made such an impact and adopted children from a handful of countries. I would love to adopt some kids, and tonight it kind of hit me. It was after reading my sisters blog, and also thinking about what kind of a role do I play in this war. I don't really have to worry about going over there myself, anyone with medical issues like mine aren't really wanted out there anyway. I could protest, but I am hesitant to do that too because I want to respect my sister. I was thinking though, about how many people have died. We have lost thousands of soldiers, and the casualties that the Iraqi's face multiply that from what I have heard. I do not read much 'news' on the subject aside from what my I hear direct from the warzone. It is such a big issue that I haven't been able to really wrap my head around it.

What about adopting an Iraqi baby though? Iraqi child? Would that make a difference? I would love to have a little Iraqi baby, and I would love to give everyone around me the experience of seeing what this war is doing to the babies. I know that our soldiers are dying too, and that there are likely orphans resulting from that but I also know that before even going to war our soldiers need to think ahead and make sure no matter what their kids will be taken care of. So while yes I would consider donating money to assist with raising orphaned US military children, I wonder what is happening to all those Iraqi babies? I hear about children being adopted from China, South America, and Domestically but I don't hear about adoptions taking place for the tiniest victims of all. I don't even know if it is legal.

Just something on my mind...it isn't anything I'd be able to do soon, but I would absolutely love to do something like this if I am ever in a comfortable enough situation to bring more children into our family.

Yeah, life is good pretty much baby is finally asleep but I'm so tired I'm pretty delirious.

Wow...I am SO tired...

I am unusually tired today...I don't know if it because it's a 'mom' day with it being the weekend and all or what but I am just exhausted.

I haven't been able to get baby girl down for a nap, so that could definitely be part of it, I know I drank more coffee than usual as well, so that could be having adverse affects too, even just standing here typing is exhausting, drawing, thinking, I really would like to sit by myself in a quiet place for a little while...

Trying not to think of it as 'fatigue' because I kind of pride myself as not experiencing that kind of symptom but really, I am very very tired right now.

Tomorrow I was planning on starting Aikido with Kenzie, I hope I have more energy...I'm going to try and drink a lot of water, maybe I'm dehydrated or something.

My little penguin!

She finally put on the penguin hat herself and got excited! We are having a early cookie decorating costume party before halloween and i am so so excited! Maybe I'll even get a costume, i should being the host i guess right? :-) it will be fun.

I went to a great mom potluck / clothing exchange tonight hosted by Single2Mother which was fun. It is interesting to hear about the variety of situations we are/have been in. Plus it's fun to have a play group with kids playing!! Thanks for organizing this Randi.

Managing a Meetup group has it's Challenges!!

Once again, notody seemed to show up. it seemed like Barnes and Noble was full of DAD's not Mom's, so maybe that's why my Hip Mama's aren't showing up? They're getting a break? I don't know, but I'll need to ask them all for feedback so I can organize this better, it is my job to get this stuff working!

Interesting!

I got contacted this week, it's for an interview in a national magazine...I'm not quite ready to say which one, let's just say it caught me a little off guard!

I'm moving forward with the interview, it'll be interesting to see if anything comes of it! It's a publication I have thought a lot about reaching out to. I just haven't thought of it recently...

Another, totally different thing that I am very excited about is that the movie Kenzie is obsessed with, and watches CONSTANTLY, is in English, AND French/Spanish on this DVD. It's not numbing my mind anymore ;-) now these penguins can makeus more 'tri-lingual'.

Good thought anyway...

Terrible way to start the day...

My ex...is mad that I told him it's not a good idea to claim our daughter lives with him for more food stamp money.

His response? He wants partial custody, (for more food stamps?)

Yummy!!!!

Today I got my first delivery from Spud.com ... let's just say, it is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. The beautiful fresh produce is just amazing, and it is EFFORTLESS. I cooked some kale tonight, came out okay, Kenzie preferred the steamed broccoli. I love having fresh produce so obtainable, I mean, I came home, and there was a big box, right there, just WAITING to be opened and to brighten my day.

Life is good! I'm seriously considering becoming pescatarian, which is vegetarian except eating fish too. I can let go of eating mammals and birds, but I love fish. I'll still eat dairy too, not going vegan eggs are just too convenient. Maybe I'll get a chicken though? Someday?
